On the last day of school we picked the girls up and headed to Minneapolis. Lorie had a horse racing on that Saturday and she invited us to come watch. We spent the night in a hotel and went swimming. It was nice to get out of town for a few days. Saturday we swam some more, and found a park to play in while we waited for the races to start. Bob and Lorie reserved a table for us up in the posh area. We had also invited some friends to come so they met us there. Lorie gave each of the kids $2 a piece for each race to bet on their favorite horse. We would go down and watch the horses some in and pick out which horse to bet on and then Lorie would go place their bet for them. Lala won $8.40 and Dillon won $4.80. When our horse raced we got to go meet the jockey and watch him mount the horse and then we got to watch the race from the owners' box. It was fun. We got third (there was a jockey issue) instead of the expected first, but the kids loved it. After the races were over we played on the playground at Canterbury Park and then went home. The kids slept most of the way home. The races are always a fun place to be. We'll go back in July when Micha
el has to go for a sale at Canterbury. Anyone want
to come?
